Hilton talked about the depletion of vitamins through smoking!
We know that infection and stress deplete certain nutrients from the body, specifically vitamin C. Smoking is a chemical stress that seems to increase turnover of vitamin C in the body, leading to lower concentrations of vitamin C in the blood. Studies also suggest that smoking may affect the absorption of calcium, resulting in accelerated bone loss. Depletion of vitamin E, A, and other trace minerals are also directly impacted by smoking. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that is depleted rapidly from the body, and smoking, in general, causes vitamin C concentrations in the body to become depleted. It has been determined that smokers should consume at least 100 mg of vitamin C daily, to meet their daily vitamin C requirements. Most of vitamin E comes from diet, but due to the large and steadily reduced low-fat diets, part of the result is the loss of vitamin E. For protection, vitamin E must be present in preventing and repairing health disease. Nearly 50 million Americas smoke. Smokers have the lowest vitamin C levels and the fastest disappearance of vitamin E. This is the body's complex biochemical 's natural mechanism against toxins. When certain agents, like cigarette smoke place the body in a constant oxidative stress, cell mutation, this stage can lead to the onset for disease. One thing to keep in mind is that suppressing the immune system, like poor nutrition, nutrient depletion, smoking, lack of exercise and sunlight your body will have a hard time doing it's job by cleaning up cancerous cells around the body. Conclusion, stay healthy, don't smoke!
